We've won the competition for a new motorcycle parking facility at Airport Schiphol!

Motorcycle Parking Schiphol. Earlier this year, we won a closed competition for Airport Schiphol’s new motorcycle parking facility!

After studying the Schiphol DNA (“always ready but never finished”), we proposed a remountable design that fits the architecture of our main airport. Per modular element, a wooden roof is supported by a central slender column, like an umbrella, maximizing visibility and social safety. A special hinge support makes the roof appear to float above the columns. Rainwater is collected at the columns in a planter and smoke gases can escape here. The roof consists of repetitive frames with daylight domes, typical of Schiphol’s ceiling mirror, which allow plenty of daylight to shine through the roof during the day. In the evening, the ceiling is evenly illuminated, transforming the motorcycle parking facility into a “Batcave”! Good place to park your bike… Right?
