Our design for a sustainable development with 34 affordable houses on the edge of Rijnsaterwoude
‘Het Wouwse Hof’ is our design for a sustainable development with 34 affordable houses on the edge of Rijnsaterwoude, a small village along the Braassemer lake in The Netherlands. With a variety of housing types, the plan accommodates different groups, from young to old, stimulating a natural ‘flow’ of residents in the village. Where the urban design encourages a sense of community around the central courtyard, the archetypical housing models are a modern touch to the typical rural houses in the area. With the addition of a wooden pergola structure, the different housing types are visually connected with each other and the entrance feels like a generous connection between private and public space.
