Casa Calonge

Casa Calonge is a new villa in the green hills of the Costa Brava, Spain. As the main organizing element, the dining table is placed centrally in the house, in the most secluded position and with the best views. Carefully positioned “closed” volumes with supporting functions such as toilet and utility room create a continuous open living space. The front facade line follows the elevation lines of the hill, ensuring that the volume fits the slope perfectly. The volume looks simple and abstract, the angled lines and corners create an interesting shape: a sharp diamond in the landscape. The materialization is serene and restrained with an alternation of local materials. Integral sustainability measures maximize passive use of climatic conditions, provide a pleasant indoor climate and significantly reduce energy costs.
